Visual Arts Lab

Material, form, colour and space across fine-art practices and contemporary experimentation.

Background and foundations

The Visual Arts Lab is a central pillar of the association’s artistic project. It develops still and spatial visual languages, connecting classical fine-art practices with contemporary visual approaches. Moving beyond decoration, it treats art-making as a material creative act and a critical position towards the world.

Vision and working method

The lab works with material, form, colour and mass in space, deepening aesthetic awareness among artists and audiences. It draws on visual symbols and cultural and social dimensions rooted in local and environmental heritage — including ksour, oases and natural textures — and brings them into conversation with artistic modernity.

Strategic objectives

  • Support and develop fine-art expression through drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic arts and printmaking.
  • Engage with contemporary spatial practices, including installation art and site-specific art.
  • Develop exhibitions and visual-art encounters, including retrospectives and solo shows, that celebrate visual identity and creative diversity while questioning dominant aesthetic hierarchies.

Fields of practice and activities

  • Courses and practical workshops for young people, children and amateur artists, developing technical and conceptual approaches to artistic materials and tools.
  • Organising and curating fine-art exhibitions and managing visual installations through contemporary critical approaches.
